Highschool

Washington, D.C. – August 29, 2023 – Norristown Area High School (NAHS) has been ranked among the 2023-2024 Best High Schools by U.S. News & World Report. The rankings evaluate more than 17,600 schools at the national, state and local level.

The school was also ranked No. 286 in Pennsylvania out of 750 high schools, putting NAHS in the top 38% of high schools, as shown at www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/pennsylvania/districts/norristown-area-school-district/norristown-area-high-school-17129.

The methodology focuses on six indicators of school quality: college readiness; breadth of curriculum; scores on state proficiency tests; performance in reading, math, and science; underserved student performance; and graduation rates.

“Having access to a strong high school program is paramount for students as they face an ever-changing world,” says Liana Loewus, managing editor of education at U.S. News. “Making data on our high schools available helps parents ensure their child is in the educational environment that best sets them up to thrive.”

NAHS was established in 1870 in the Borough of Norristown and relocated to West Norriton Township in 1973. The student population is about 2,200 students in grades 9-12. The high school utilizes a modified block schedule, offers all core courses in a college prep and weighted honors format, and has entered into a partnership with Montgomery County Community College to offer dual enrollment (both high school and college credit) in a number of courses. NAHS has a full complement of boy’s and girl’s sports, musical groups, co-curricular and extracurricular activities including Army JROTC, cultural, service, and drama clubs. The state-of-the-art TV production studio broadcasts news and original programming both internally and on our community access cable channel.
