Last night, Norristown Area High School’s Chapter 196 of the National Honor Society inducted 45 new members. The NAHS National Honor Society Faculty Council met and reviewed the applications of over 60 potential candidates for induction this year. Congratulations to this year’s inductees!
NAHS’s National Honor Society is also celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The original charter was granted to Norristown Area High School on December 21, 1923. NAHS was inducted as Chapter 196, and there are now over 17,000 chapters of the National Honor Society.
The pillars of NAHS National Honor Society are Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. The members and new inductees of the National Honor Society are outstanding students that exemplify these pillars in their academics and extracurricular activities.
The ceremony featured keynote speaker Mr. Akbar Hossain, Secretary of Policy and Planning for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, NAHS 2009 Graduate, recent Hall of Fame Inductee, and NAHS National Honor Society Member.
